Cops seize thousands of pounds and drugs worth £26k in Renfrew raid

Drugs worth thousands of pounds and cash were found by drug squad cops during an early morning raid in Renfrew.

Officers from the force’s Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit swooped in on a property in Leander Crescent in the town on Friday morning.

During searches of the property, a large quantity of Class-B drugs were discovered which are understood to have a street value of £26,000.

A cash sum totalling tens of thousands of pounds was also seized during the search.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers in possession of search warrants issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act attended at an address in Renfrew on December 23.

“Following a search of the property, a large quantity of Class B drugs were recovered.

“The estimated street value of the substances found is around £26,000. A cash sum of tens of thousands was also seized.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with drug supply offences.

“If you have any information at all relating to drug activity in your community, then we ask you to contact police or Crimestoppers.”
