Cooper Kupp made history again by topping 900 yards and 10 TDs in first 8 games

Cooper Kupp was always a good receiver for the Rams, putting up solid numbers when healthy during his first four seasons. But this year, he’s taken his game to another level with Matthew Stafford as his quarterback.

Kupp entered Week 8 leading the NFL in targets, receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, putting himself into the conversation as the best wide receiver in football. All he did on Sunday against the Texans was improve on those numbers, catching another seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown.

He now has 63 catches for 924 yards and 10 touchdowns, continuing to make NFL history. According to NFL Research on Twitter, Kupp is the first player in the Super Bowl era (since 1970) with at least 900 yards and 10 touchdown catches in his first eight games.

The only other players in NFL history with at least 900 yards and 10 touchdown catches through the first eight games were Elroy Hirsch (1951), Bobby Mitchell (1962) and Billy Howton (1956), according to Stathead.

Kupp is now on pace for 1,964 yards this season, which would tie Calvin Johnson’s single-season record. It’ll be a tough pace to keep up, but Kupp is more than capable of doing it.
