Coolio's kids 'to inherit his fortune after he died without leaving a will'

The assets of late rapper Coolio are to be split between seven of his ten children after he died without leaving behind a will.

The Gangsters Paradise singer, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr., passed away suddenly in September at the age of 59.

The cause of death is yet to be determined publicly as autopsy results were deferred in the USA - however, it is suspected his struggle with asthma could have contributed to his passing after he was found dead on a hotel floor.

Reports have suggested that Coolio’s manager, Jarez Posey, has begun legal proceedings to have the late star’s estate assessed - with the seven adult children who he listed as his next of kin to be the likely beneficiaries.

PageSIx reports: “The petition estimates the value of Coolio’s estate to be more than $300,000 (£250,000) and it includes ‘personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts, insurance policies and royalties’.”

Their report goes on to state that the rapper’s exact wealth is yet to be formally determined.

Jarez broke news of Collio’s death back in September, telling TMZ at the time that he had found the star’s body.

He confirmed to the outlet that the star was visiting a friend in Los Angeles when they became concerned after he went to the bathroom and didn't return.

Coolio was unresponsive to calls for him to return, leading the pal to check on the star. However, he was found laying on the floor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after his friend called emergency services.

Hollywood star Michelle Pfeiffer, who played the lead role in Dangerous Minds to which Coolio soundtracked the movie, led tributes to him online.

She shared a clip of the huge hit tune and said she was "heartbroken" at the news.

She wrote: "Heartbroken to hear of the passing of the gifted artist @coolio. A life cut entirely too short. As some of you may know I was lucky enough to work with him on Dangerous Minds in 1995. He won a Grammy for his brilliant song on the soundtrack - which I think was the reason our film saw so much success."

Meanwhile, Montell Jordan, who was on tour with Coolio days before his death, previously told PageSix of his shock over his death.

He said: “I’ve been with him for weeks and for months now, and I did not know - and still don’t know - the circumstances behind his passing, but I did not see anything that would have given an indication that he was ill or that anything happened to him.”

Coolio shared four children with his wife, Josefa Salinas, who he was married to in 1996 but then divorced in 2000, and reportedly has six other children - and five grandchildren.
