Controlled explosion carried out by bomb squad in woodland

A controlled explosion has been carried out following the discovery of a suspected World War II grenade.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called just after 7pm on Saturday, July 18, after the device was spotted by walkers in woodland close to Braemar Road in Clipstone.

A specialist bomb disposal unit attended and a controlled explosion was carried out just after 9.30pm.

No evacuations for residents in properties were required, the force confirmed.
