Conor McGregor UFC news: Talks begin for co-main event on Notorious' comeback card

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has been offered a fight with British up-and-comer Leon Edwards to be co-main event of Conor McGregor's UFC comeback card.

The Notorious , 31, announced last week that he will return to the Octagon for the first time since October last year in the T-Mobile Arena on January 18, 2020.

And in an interview with SevereMMA, number 4 ranked 170 lb fighter Leon Edwards has revealed that he is in talks to fight legendary ex-champ Tyron Woodley in the co-main event of that card.

Edwards said: "If they [the UFC] give me Woodley, the talk is that it will be in America and they told me this week that they offered him the fight for the same day as Conor.

"They're looking at that fight as the co-main so I said 'yeah whatever'."

McGregor has yet to confirm a weight class or an opponent for the event, and Dana White has refused to confirm the fight has been signed.

But reports appear to indicate that the two most likely opponents are Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone and Justin Gaethje in the lightweight division.

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor enjoyed a family day out over the weekend as he shared a number of pictures with his daughter Croia and mother Margaret.

The UFC star was back on Irish soil after visiting Ukraine and Russia last week and shared a couple of snaps from Howth with his ten-month old daughter.

Posting on Instagram , he commented: "So good to be home! Day out with family in Howth, Ireland."

Responding to McGregor's post, his partner Dee Devlin said: "Our little princess."
