Conor McGregor shows off huge frame as he prepares for long-awaited UFC return

Conor McGregor is looking massive as he continues to recover from his leg injury whilst preparing for a UFC return.

Former two-weight champion McGregor, 33, is still out of action after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight last July. During his time away from the octagon, McGregor has joked he is tipping the scale at the heavyweight limit of 265lb whilst confirming plans to return at 170lb next year.

A recent training picture of McGregor alongside his wrestling coach Sergey Pikulskiy shows just how much muscle he's packed on since his last fight, which took place at 155lb. The Irishman flaunted his muscles after a wrestling practice whilst standing next to Pikulskiy, who has been one of McGregor's coaches since the start of his UFC career.

McGregor's return has been pushed back until May at the earliest, as UFC boss Dana White confirmed that all fighters will need to undergo random testing for six months before taking to the octagon, with McGregor giving no samples for all of this year. 'Notorious' has been backed by Chael Sonnen to lose a lot of weight ahead of his return as the UFC veteran thinks his recent physique looks "bloated".

“Conor comes out and he looks big," Sonnen said in his latest YouTube video. "Then it gets revealed that he’s not in the USADA testing pool. Conor did not look overly strong, by the way. That’s not what you saw in those pictures. You saw a guy who was bloated. Why would he be bloated? Well, he’s bloated because he’s not sweating out six pounds a day like his body is used to doing and had done every day for the last decade. So he’s retained a lot of water weight."

Noticeably absent from McGregor's look in the pictures is his iconic beard, which he recently shaved off to dress up for his Halloween costume. Fans have since joked that McGregor looks unrecognisable after getting rid of his beard, with one user even referencing McGregor's own catchphrase by commenting on his post: "Who the f*** is that guy hahahah who the f*** is that".

McGregor got tired of those mocking his new look as he posted a series of pictures of him on Instagram covering up his face with the caption: "F*** all yous talking bad about my beard ya’s’ll do nothin." The Irishman's coach John Kavanagh also took a dig at his look by commenting on his latest post: "Who's the youngfella?"
