Conor McGregor is set to return to the UFC for his first fight in five years, facing old rival Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 on 11 July.
The upcoming bout will be a welterweight clash, 13 years after McGregor outpointed Holloway in their featherweight encounter in 2013, before both fighters later became champions in their respective divisions.
The announcement of McGregor vs. Holloway came shortly after Nate Diaz's fight on Saturday, where Diaz was stopped by Mike Perry due to a nasty cut in a welterweight bout organised by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.
McGregor took to social media to taunt both Holloway and Diaz, mocking Diaz for his loss and telling Holloway, "I’m gonna son you, child. Again”, while sharing a photo from their first fight.
McGregor's last fight was in 2021, where he sustained a broken leg in a second consecutive loss to Dustin Poirier, marking a significant layoff before his return against Holloway, who recently lost a "Baddest Motherf*****" title fight to Charles Oliveira.
