Conor McGregor tried to poach one of Floyd Mayweather's coaches ahead of their historic boxing clash in 2017.
Nate Jones has been working with Mayweather following his own retirement in 2002, and claims the Irish star offered him €1.3 million ($1.5 million US) to be in his corner.
Jones told the new boxing podcast, ‘Rocky Road: Rewind’, that he was staying loyal to his long-time friend, despite the sizeable offer from the 'Notorious One'.
He said the Irish star's team initially got in touch with fellow Chicago native Montell Griffin about the offer.

He said: "Floyd don’t know this but I got a call from Conor McGregor’s people to work his corner for that fight and I hung up on them. They offered me $1.5 million but I hung up on them.
“I got a call from Montell Griffin and he said, ‘people want to holler at you Nate, they’re McGregor’s people’.
“And they called and I’m like, ‘what’s up?’ They was like, ‘man, he interested in you being in the corner. We’ll pay you $1.5m US, whatever you want, mention what you want’. And I hung up.”

When asked if he was ever tempted by the Dublin native's offer, Jones laughed.
He responded: “Montell Griffin called me back and said, ‘Nate you big dummy, what the f*** is wrong with you, man?’
“I said, ‘what?’ He said, ‘this is about your life, your career, make a better move for yourself Nate!’
“I said, ‘nah, I’m not disloyal like that. Montell, I don’t do things like that, that’s my friend’.
“He said, ‘you’ve got to be one of the dumbest dudes ever, man’. And he hung up on me.
“Floyd don’t know about it. I didn’t do it so I never brung it up to him. But I will soon.”

McGregor would ultimately go on to lose the bout, with a tenth round stoppage giving 'Money' Mayweather his 50th career victory.
Speaking about the event itself, Jones said that the former two-weight UFC champion looked 'nervous'.
He said: “I was the guy, when Floyd wrapped his hands they sent someone to watch us to make sure he wasn’t doing anything illegal, and vice versa.
“When McGregor wrapped his hands, we sent a representative which was me. I sat there and watched McGregor get his hands wrapped.
“And I’ve never seen someone so nervous in my life. That’s the part of the fight that shocked me the most because going into the fight, McGregor was talking a lot of smack.
“In the locker room getting ready to fight, he was very shook. He went to the washing room six times. Six times. I was like, ‘what is wrong with this dude?’

“He was very shook for that fight.
“Going into the fight, I was worried about him not being a boxer, I was worried about the unknown.
“And he brung to the table his size. I was worried about that but we handled him well, we chopped him down and stopped him.”
McGregor returned to the UFC following his boxing debut defeat, and would be stopped by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The 31 year-old earned a first round stoppage victory over Donald Cerrone in his next matchup, before retiring from the fight game earlier this month.
