Conor McGregor’s coach would really like to see McGregor fight Nate Diaz next

We haven’t seen Conor McGregor inside the Octagon since he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 last October.

Both fighters, of course, received suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for their roles in the brawl that occurred right after the fight.

McGregor’s suspension, however, has been over since April yet we still have no idea when he’s going to fight again or who that next fight might be against.

Nurmagomedov said last week that he doesn’t think McGregor deserves a rematch, which I think makes sense, considering how overmatched McGregor was in that fight.

So who should he fight next? His coach, John Kavanagh, appeared on “Ariel Helawni’s MMA Show” on ESPN on Monday and said he’d really love to see McGregor fight Nate Diaz next to complete the trilogy:

Now that’s a fight I’ve been hoping to see ever since the two fighters put on a five-round show at UFC 202, which McGregor won via a close decision. Diaz won their first fight when he choked out McGregor at UFC 196.

Diaz makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon this August when he takes on Anthony Pettis at UFC 241.

UFC boss Dana White said last week that he thinks McGregor will fight before the end of the year.

Kavanagh says he’s liked what he’s seen from McGregor lately:

So how about they just schedule McGregor-Diaz 3 for the final PPV of the year?
