Conor Benn has said he is no longer interested in fighting Ryan Garcia.
Garcia suffered a shock defeat on his comeback from a 12-month doping suspension after dropping a unanimous decision to Rolando Romero in New York.
Garcia was put down by a left hook in the second round of the welterweight bout before Romero won by two scores of 115-112 and one of 118-109 in a ring specially constructed in the heart of Times Square.
It was a second defeat in 26 contests for Garcia, who served a ban for testing positive for ostarine before and after last year's points win over Devin Haney, subsequently overturned to a no-contest.
There had been hopes of a showdown between Garcia and Benn after the latter expressed a willingness to box Garcia if the expected rematch against Chris Eubank Jr at the back end of this year doesn’t materialise.
However, after flying out to New York City to get a closer look at his potential opponent, Benn has performed a u-turn.
Speaking to iFL TV he said of Garcia’s performance: "I didn't think it was great. Very disappointing performance. It was terrible."
Then when asked if he still wanted to fight Garcia, Benn responded: "No. I don't think so."
