Connor Ronan is poised to join American outfit Colorado Rapids on a permanent deal from Wolves.
The midfielder, who was called into the Ireland senior squad for the first time last year, is set to sign a long-term contract with the MLS club.
Ronan, 24, joined Wolves from Rochdale as a youth in 2014 and had five different loan spells away from Molineux, including time in Slovakia and Switzerland.
But he impressed at St Mirren and it was that stint in Scotland that earned him a call-up for the Belgium and Lithuania friendlies, although he didn’t play in either game and remains uncapped.
While fellow Ireland prospect Joe Hodge is going from strength-to-strength at Wolves, and is in talks with the Premier League club about a new long-term deal, Ronan has struggled for game time.
His only two appearances this season came off the bench in a league defeat to Brighton in November before starting in a Carabao Cup win over Leeds United four days later.
While a loan move was touted initially, the English-born player is set for a permanent switch Stateside where Irishman and ex-FAI employee Padraig Smyth is general manager of Colorado Rapids.
