BHOPAL: The Congress on Thursday issued names of its mayoral candidates for the forthcoming urban local body election. As anticipated, former mayor Vibha Patel is the party's candidate from Bhopal and MLA Sanjay Shukla from Indore.
Patel is believed to be close to the Digvijaya Singh camp. A former state party spokesperson, she was appointed Mahila Congress president in March this year. Shukla, the legislator from Indore-1 constituency, had last year said he would set himself on fire if the Covid crisis wasn't resolved.
Jagat Bahadur Singh has been chosen to contest for Jabalpur mayor, Shobha Sikarwar in Gwalior, Sharda Solanki in Morena, Nidhi Jain in Sagar, Neha Khandelwal in Katni, Arvind Singh Chandel in Singrauli, Shahnaz Ansari in Burhanpur, Vikram Ahake in Chhindwara, Ajay Mishra in Rewa, Siddarth Kushwah in Satna, Kavita Ramesh Vyas in Dewas, Asha Mishra in Khandwa and Mahesh Parmar from Ujjain.
BJP is yet to announce its mayoral candidates.
