Confirmed Arsenal XI vs Wolves: Xhaka and Sokratis return, Aubameyang misses out

Unai Emery has been able to add defensive stalwart Sokratis Papastathopoulos and midfielder Granit Xhaka to his Arsenal side but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has missed out from the starting lineup as Unai Emery returns to a 4-2-3-1.

Arsenal have welcomed Sokratis back to their side after the Greek centre-back missed matches against Watford and Crystal Palace after being booked against Everton, his 10th yellow card in 32 top flight games this season.

Aubameyang was not pictured in training on Tuesday afternoon ans was not part of the Arsenal squad that travelled up to Molineux, with Eddie Nketiah the only striker on the bench.

football.london understands Aubameyang underwent a sinus procedure before today's game. He is expected to be available for the visit to Leicester City on Sunday.

Xhaka had been nursing a hip injury that had ruled him out of Sunday's defeat to Crystal Palace. That absence had only been a precaution but Emery was unusually cagey in his pre-match press conference.

"We are going to wait," he said. "I am not telling you what our idea is with the players, with the system, with the injured players or the first XI.

"I want to keep all information to myself for tomorrow. Sorry, I think it's better for us.

"It can change sometimes. It’s because maybe I don’t want to be clear on how the players are.

"I prefer it. It's not you, it’s for our opposition."
