Concert for Ukraine - all you need to know from who's performing to how to watch

Devastating pictures and stories of people affected by the war in Ukraine have been filling our screens for more than a month. Money is desperately needed to help those in the war-ravaged country following the Russian invasion.

The Disasters Emergency Committee's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal is raising funds to help some of the people affected by the violence which has seen at least three million flee their homes to escape the conflict. This will help DEC charities and their local partners in Ukraine and neighbouring countries provide food, water, shelter and medical assistance.

Tonight a live televised concert will hit our screens bringing together some of the biggest names in the pop industry. Money raised through the event will go to the DEC appeal. Here is all you need to know from who it performing to how to watch it.

What is happening?

A two-hour spectacular featuring top music entertainers will take place in Birmingham tonight. Concert for Ukraine will raise money through viewers donations which will go to help people who have been affected by the Russian incursion.

Who is playing?

There are a host of top stars taking place including Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, Emeli Sande, Tom O'Dell, Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers and Gregory Porter. It will be hosted by radio presenters Roman Kemp, Marvin Humes and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton.

What happens to the money raised?

Any money donated by viewers will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee's (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. According to its website, the money will go to help refugees and others affected by the crisis. It says donations can help meet the needs of all refugees and displaced people.

  • £30 donation can provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month
  • £50 could provide blankets for four families
  • £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month

ITV is donating all the advertising revenue from the broadcast – an estimated £3 million – to the DEC appeal.

Concertgoers in Birmingham have paid up to £52 for tickets, with all tax raised from the sales - around £100,000 - donated to the DEC appeal.

How can I donate?

Donations can be made online at dec.org.uk or by phone on 0370 60 60 900.
