Former Nottingham Forest loanee Loic Bade has said that his unsuccessful time at the City Ground was a ‘blessing in disguise’ following his move away from the club.
The centre-back joined Forest on loan from French side Rennes on deadline day in the summer transfer window, the defender signing until the end of the season.
However, his time at the club didn’t go how anyone would have hoped. The 23-year-old was only included in a Premier League matchday squad once in the first half of the season, being an unused substitute in the 1-0 defeat against Wolves back in October.

In fact, he failed to make a single appearance for Forest in any competition, and was sent back to Rennes when the January window opened. His loan deal was cut short six months earlier than planned.
After returning to Rennes, Bade went out on loan again, this time to Sevilla. He has since made 17 appearances for the club, and scored in the Spanish side’s 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League last week.
Bade has now opened up about his time at the City Ground, describing the months in England as a ‘blessing in disguise, despite the frustration of not playing any minutes.
“Complicated… It’s not like I played and wasn’t good,” he told L’Equipe about his time with Forest.
“But, in the end, I got something out of it, it was a blessing in disguise. I had a lot of determination in me to turn this season around.”
Bade’s performances for Sevilla have now led to speculation over his future , with a return to the Premier League touted. Tottenham are one of the teams said to be showing an interest, despite the Spanish side having a £10m option to buy in the loan deal for the player.
