Complete Marvel Tokon tier list

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is now available in full launch across PC and consoles, and there’s a huge number of fighters to choose from. If you enjoyed the closed and open betas, there’s better news for you. The full launch brings 21 different characters for you to pick from, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

In this guide, we’ll help you quickly figure out which ones can potentially do well on the meta and which ones are better left alone.

Marvel Tokon tier list: All fighters ranked

To separate the characters, we have picked four different tiers. Some of these assessments have been made with closed beta and open beta in mind. We will be changing some evaluations as we spend more time with the full version.

  • S-tier choices are the best choices in the current meta.
  • A-tier choices are good alternatives to S-tier options. Some of them rise to S-tier if you’re using a synergistic team.
  • B-tier choices are average choices, but you can do well if you invest time.
  • C-tier choices are poor choices that you should avoid (unless you’re a fan).

S-tier

Character Reasons
Magik, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Magik
Apart from having access to some of the game’s best pokes, Magik can control from a distance and cross you up in a flash by warping around. Did you wiff, or are you busy blocking? Don’t worry, she might just teleport and delete 60% of your health in the corner.

+ Easy to pick up
+ Phenomenal poking (Has some of the longest hitting normals in the game)
+ Good zoning options
+ Great assists
Spider-Man, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Spider-Man
Spider-Man is a technical menace capable of trapping enemies in cuscenes, all while baiting wiffs and punishing from full-screen. Has access to the game’s best meterless counter option in Spidey-Sense.

+ Great mixup potential
+ Screen-wide range
+ Adaptability
+ Insane mobility
– Does not come with the Leopardon
Storm.
Storm
Storm shines as both a neutral master and corner carry. Although not as flashy as Magik’s portals, her unique (Tempest) is the core of her kit and allows you to both speed yourself up mid-action and push her projectiles for maximum effect.

+ Good poking
+ Easy to chain skills for massive damage and multiple loops
+ Excels in closing in and setting her offense up with Tempest
+ High skill ceiling
Black Panther, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Black Panther
Having Divine Rite as the cornerstone of her kit, Black Panther pairs her amazing pokes, high mobility, and ranged options with the ability to cancel at will. Getting the most out of her will demand mastery over your resources and a fine-tuned neutral game.

+ Mobility
+ Amazing poking
+ Excels at mixing from all ranges via Bast’s Blessing
+ Divine Rite
Blade, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Blade
Justifying the hype behind his debut, Blade can instantly close in, extend, and reset his combos, all while relying on Heart Stopper for extra damage. That also makes him just as effective as a tag partner as he is on point.

+ Ease of use
+ Great damage
+ Excels at all ranges
+ Can sustain himself with ease
+ Great assists
Doctor Doom, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Doctor Doom
Tokon‘s premier zoner, Doom shines by setting the pace with ranged combinations and surprising from full screen by command grabbing and kicking off combos. Using Nullify Shield and Auric Ray at the right time can then guarantee a win on any zoning battle.

+ Premier zoner
+ Easy to combo from skills
+ Reaction tester via Diplomacy
– Can be really meter heavy

A-tier

Character Reasons

Iron Man, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Iron Man
Although a solid zoner capable of quickly closing in and crossing up, Iron Man’s phenomenal Unibean Shooter Assist is the highlight of his kit. That, however, might also be his biggest bane, with you usually gaining more by having him in the supporting slot of an S-tier pick.

+ Has arguably the best Shooter Assist in the game
+ Amazing mobility
+ Great zoning options
+ Solid when in close range
Hulk, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Hulk
Tokon‘s Hulk is a high-speed truck, capable of wrecking rounds in a few hits via his extensions and array of armored/spammable moves. His gameplay relies on building opportunities to boost his Gamma Level while keeping your offense going.

+ Hits hard (Even more so when in Gamma Rage)
+ Easy to play
+ Easy to synergize
+ Good assists
– One note
– Limited aerial mobility
Wolverine.
Wolverine
The best at what he does, if what he does is rushing down relentlessly before trapping opponents in the corner and unleashing his Berserker chains, Wolverine rewards aggressive gameplay with multiple mix opportunities.

+ Amazing pressure
+ Good mixes
+ Easy to chain skills
+ Excellent from close range
– Struggles against opponents capable of putting him on the backfoot
Danger.
Danger
A walking arsenal, Danger’s gameplay is focused on using her ranged options to keep enemies on their toes. Her unique (Calibrate) allows her to both trigger traps and teleport to their locations for efficient tag mixes.

+ A plethora of ranged options
+ Great Shooter and Assault assists
– By far one of the hardest picks in the game
Star Lord.
Star-Lord
Infamous for his popularity during the game’s betas, Star-Lord is a dual threat able to adapt to multiple situations through his Elemental Blast variations. His screen-wide versatility allows him to punish from full screen while also setting up tag combos and mixing via Command Normal.

+ Excels in all ranges
+ High mobility
+ Expert in abusing mistakes
– Might require help when facing reactive opponents used to his strengths
Ghost Rider, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Ghost Rider
Having access to long combo chains and heavy-hitting skills, Robbie Reyes excels at opening up from range and forcing opponents to master counter mechanics if they want to have a chance to take the steering wheel. Just don’t go to ham and overheat before getting the final hit.

+ Easy to use
+ Great mixups
+ Multiple long-range options and chains
+ Excels at applying pressure
– Easy to clip
– Meter heavy
Magneto, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Magneto
Known for his spammable Metallic Hammer and Blast combo, Magneto is the definition of throwing everything but the kitchen sink at opponents, while still being able to work at close range. Even if obnoxious, though, the presence of crossovers and armored attacks can open a path amidst the debris.

+ High damage zoner
+ Can mix from full screen when using the right assists
+ A nightmare for early-level players
+ Great Shooter and Assault Assists
– Can be countered by defensive mechanics with arguable ease when compared to most
Deadpool, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Deadpool
Piloting Deadpool means juggling live grenades, as his powerful Fourth Wall attacks can only be used after dealing self-inflicting damage with Meat Shield. In other words, you must be able to master his cancels and routes to justify the cost behind each big combo.

+ Reliable at all ranges
+ Amazing mixup options
+ Electrics
– Making the most out of him will demand knowing his routes by heart.

B-tier

Chracter Reasons
Captain America, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Captain America
Mr. Tokon himself, Captain America is the definition of an all-rounder, capable of dealing good damage while keeping your wrists intact. That also causes many to see him as a stale pick compared to the above.

+ The famous jack of all trades
+ Beginner-friendly
+ Versatile
+ Good ranged opening options
Peni Parker, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Peni Parker
A zoner unlike any other, Peni relies on her unorthodox offense to fill the screen and leave players scratching their heads as their health goes down. To balance that, her gameplay can be easy to figure out if you take your time and don’t let her set up.

+ Straightforward
+ Easy to combo for big damage
+ Great zoning if paired with the right assists
– Can be easy to counter
Green Goblin.
Green Goblin
Green Goblin gains unmatched mobility when atop his glider, which further enhances his projectile and mixup game. The thing is, he lacks a lot of what makes him special when on the ground.

+ Good damage
+ High mobility
+ Mixup potential
+ You will have unfamiliarity on your side most of the time
– Performance drops when out of the glider

C-tier

Character Reasons
Ms Marvel, as seen in Marvel Tokon.
Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel is a good option for newcomers, given her ability to close in from anywhere while staying positive on block with Elasti-grab. The problem? Her playstyle is linear and loses effectiveness as more assists join the fray.

+ Simple combos
+ A reliable overhead
+ The closest thing we have to an AAA Luffy by Arc System Works
– Extremely linear

As no matter how much we try, we are not super-humans, the following characters are still in the testing phase. But don’t worry, we will be adding them to the list as soon as possible.

  • Champion
  • Loki
  • Carnage
