Complete contract details, salary cap breakdown for LB Krys Barnes

Inside linebacker Krys Barnes was a solid role player for the Arizona Cardinals last season, starting six of the 16 games he played because of injuries at the position.

Barnes participated in 39% of the defensive snaps and 50% of the special-teams snaps. He played on a one-year contract following three seasons with the Packers and is back with the team for 2024 on another modest one-year deal.

The base salary is $1.125 million, but only $985,000 of that counts against the salary cap because it is a veteran qualifying contract. The total cap charge is $1,148,529 including a $100,000 signing bonus and a potential total of $67,500 in per-game ($3,971) roster bonuses.

With 19 players signed in the first week of the league year, Cards Wire has now provided figures for 11 of the known contracts.

Here are the totals for those 11 players:

Combined value: $134.275 million

Guarantees: $89.495 million

Fully guaranteed: $78.910 million

Guaranteed for injury only: $10.585 million that becomes fully guaranteed in future years.

Signing bonus: $49.375 million

*Salary cap charge: $34.817 million

*The net cap hit is about $24.75 million because each player signed bumps another out of the top 51 that count against the cap in the offseason.

The Cardinals’ current cap space is $32.4 million according to overthecap.com, while spotrac.com has it as $33.71 million.
