Compensation Details of Packers-Jets Trade for Aaron Rodgers Emerge, per Report

Aaron Rodgers‘s long-rumored move to New York finally became a reality on Monday when the Packers reportedly reached an agreement to send the four-time MVP quarterback to the Jets.

On the heels of a report that the two sides recently resumed talks of a deal, the Packers and Jets finally came to terms on the blockbuster trade, which was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The reported deal will include multiple draft picks, including a few notable selections in the 2023 NFL draft, which will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

According to Schefter, the deal will see Rodgers, the No. 15 pick in the ’23 draft and a ’23 fifth-round pick (No. 170) head to the Jets in exchange for the No. 13 pick, a ’23 second-round pick (No. 42), a ’23 sixth-round pick (No. 207), and a conditional 2024 second-rounder. Schefter also reported the ’24 conditional pick can turn into a first-round selection if the 39-year-old Rodgers plays 65% of the offensive snaps with his new team this coming season.

With the megadeal reportedly done, Rodgers is now set to play out his age-40 season in the Meadowlands after spending the previous 18 seasons in Green Bay. In New York, Rodgers’s preferred destination, the future Hall of Famer will reunite with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett–who served as the Packers’ OC from ’19 to ’21–in an offense that includes wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the ’23 Rookie of the Year, and ex-Packers wideout Allen Lazard.
