Company fined for illegally advertising around Liverpool

A Liverpool business has been hit with a hefty fine for illegally placing signs around the city.

Bespoke Shutter Blinds, based in Fazakerley, was fined £1,250 at Liverpool Magistrates Court. The company failed to respond to a court summons or otherwise engage with the court despite numerous opportunities to do so.

The summons came after the company had been found to be illegally advertising across Liverpool - including placing signs on traffic management infrastructure without permission.

The company - which describes itself as a 'Venetian Blinds specialist' - was therefore found guilty in their absence at the Magistrates Court. They were last week handed a fine of £1,000 with £150 contribution towards prosecution costs and a £100 victim surcharge applied.

A tweet from the Liverpool Streetscene twitter account said: "The guilty charge comes after the business were found to be advertising across the city, including on traffic management assets without any consent."

A follow up comment from the city council added: "Fly posting is illegal and is not tolerated in #Liverpool. That's why Bespoke Shutter Blinds Ltd, based in Fazakerley, has been fined £1,250 at Liverpool Magistrates Court."

A collection order has also been applied to the total amount.
