Commuters facing rail delays due to broken down train near Edinburgh Waverley

Commuters travelling to and from Edinburgh are facing length delays due to a broken down train near Waverley.

ScotRail took to social media at around 7:30am this morning to announce the disruption.

A spokesperson said: "We are dealing with a broken down train east of Edinburgh Waverley which is causing some disruption to our service.

"Staff are currently fault finding and we will update you once we get more information from the ground."

This is affecting East Lothian and Borders services and the Fife circle, with delays of up to nearly an hour on Edinburgh to/from Glenrothes services.

One frustrated passengers tweeted ScotRail: "Nice quick response passengers at Haymarket knew this 30 minutes ago."

Lothian Buses are accepting ScotRail tickets for Edinburgh, Brunstane, Newcraighall, Shawfair, Eskbank, Newtongrange and Gorebridge.
