Jeff Hostetler (1997) had filled in for the injured Phil Simms and led the NY Giants to a Super Bowl XXV victory. Eight years later, he came to Washington. When starter Gus Frerotte jammed his neck with his infamous head butt of a wall, Hostetler entered the game but struggled going 19-41, 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in an ugly 7-7 tie. He then started the last three games of the season. But he injured his knee in the next preseason, went on Injured Reserve, and was released after the season.

Mike Kruczek (1980) was a backup quarterback who filled in for injured Joe Theismann in 1980. He entered and finished a 14-10 loss to Dallas and started a 10-6 loss to Atlanta. It was the last year he played in the NFL.

Tony Robinson (1987) was brought to Washington during the 1987 NFL strike. He was actually on a work-release from a prison sentence. When starter Ed Rubbert was injured, Robinson came off the bench to help Washington win 13-7 at Dallas on Monday Night Football.

Aldrick Robinson (2012-14) was a speedster receiver out of SMU. In his three Washington seasons, he started three games, caught 30 passes for 5 touchdowns averaging an impressive 20.3 yards per reception. He wore No. 11 and No. 15 for Washington.

Josh Morgan (2012-13) actually caught 68 passes in his two Washington seasons for two touchdowns and 44 first downs. While returning punts he had a 34-yard return in 2013.

Steven Sims (2019-20) started four games, caught 61 passes for 5 touchdowns and 31 first downs. Sims had a 22-yard punt return, a 65-yard run and a 91-yard kickoff return.

Dax Milne (2021-22) is attempting to again make the Washington roster this season. He has had a 19-yard punt return, a 33-yard kickoff return, a 22-yard pass reception and one touchdown reception.
