Comedy royal cartoon series pulled after death of Prince Philip

An animated series set to be aired on TV this year has been pulled after the death of Prince Philip.

The HBO Max series The Prince now looks set to be aired at a later date.

The Prince's writer-producer Gary Janetti teased the new series in April, days before Prince Philip died.

The satirical shows takes aim at the Royal family and had been expected to make its debut this spring.

The Hollywood Reporter said Prince Philip was depicted in the series as being in a "decrepit state".

HBO Max confirmed that The Prince's debut has been postponed.

It told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement: "We were saddened to learn of Prince Philip's passing and will adjust plans for the series debut. A new date will be announced at a later time."

The Duke of Edinburgh's character was due to be voiced by Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens.

The series was also due to feature to voices of Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry, Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton, Sophie Turner as Princess Charlotte and Iwan Rheon as Prince William.
