Comedian Lee Mack leaves The One Show host speechless with hilarious dig

Lee Mack left The One Show' studio in fits of laughter and its host Jermaine Jenas lost for words on Tuesday.

The comedian, 53, was in the studio to chat to presenters Sam Quek and Jermaine about this year's Soccer Aid.

The trio were joined by actor James Nesbitt, who appeared via Zoom link.

Field hockey player-turned-presenter Sam, 32, asked former pro footy player Jermaine, 38, if he had any tips to help the comic eventually net a penalty in the charity event - Lee has missed a spot kick three years in a row.

Jermaine said: "I was going to be nice, but I didn't know he was going to get so defensive about the whole situation.

"What I would say is maybe to a bit of a longer run up. Pick a different corner. Hit it a bit harder, maybe. I don't know."

Lee quickly snapped back: "Each year I've picked a different corner but it's not gone in the corner I've aimed for."

And he then went on to leave the hosts speechless. "I'm a 53-year-old comedian," he said.

"Asking me to take a penalty is like asking an ex football player to do entertainment. It's bound to end in disaster."

Laughter could be held belting around the studio while fellow guest James was also spotted chuckling away.

Jermaine then asked those in the studio: "Did you enjoy that you lot, did you? Everyone enjoy that moment?"

It's not the first time Lee has stumped a host of the show.

In March, Alex Jones joked that she "hated" him when he mocked the show on Would I Lie To You.

As she was mid-story about rehearsing for the show, Lee quipped: "Hang on. I've seen The One Show. You rehearse that?"

Lee Mack will once again appear at Soccer Aid (ITV)

Lee and the Bloodlands actor are both set to appear at the charity game once again this year.

The fixture, which features a mix of former footballers and famous faces will take place at The Etihad Stadium in Manchester later this month.

It aims to raise money for charity and other celebs signed up to take part for England include Olly Murs, James Arthur, Mark Wright and Mo Farah.

They will be joined by former pros including Wayne Rooney and David James.

The Rest of the World team will feature Usain Bolt and Martin Compston alongside the likes of Shay Given and Roberto Carlos.
