Come Judge All The Best (And Worst) Looks From The 2025 VMAs Red Carpet With Us

Another year, another 2025 VMAs red carpet featuring a bunch of talented celebrities showing off their most dazzling, pop-culture-inspired looks.

Thanks to the brilliant list of nominees, we’re set to see some of the biggest names in music glide across the carpet in some (hopefully) gorgeous ensembles. Admittedly, the fashion on the red carpet is my favourite bit of any award show, but this time around, the VMAs are set to be a pretty extravagant affair.

Music’s night of nights will be hosted by LL Cool J and feature performances from Lady GagaSabrina CarpenterJ BalvinPost Malone, Ricky Martin and Tate McRae, just to name a few. Talk about a A+ lineup, hey?

Anyway, before we get to the big event, please join me in judging the outfits celebrities wear on the 2025 MTV VMAs red carpet.

VMAs 2025 Red Carpet: All the best (and worst) looks coming to you live!

Lola Young

I fear I’m getting more ruthless as the red carpet goes on because I think this is kind of boring from my queen, Lola Young. She is usually so eclectic, silly and fun with her looks but this feels muted and played down. Although it’s worth noting that her face card truly is spectacular.

Alix Earle

TikTok queen Alix Earle is serving legs for days in this drapey little cap sleeve mini-dress. Perhaps I’m missing something here, but I think this is kind of average and boring. Ooopsie.

Ice Spice

Rapper Ice Spice looks a little bit different this year without her signature bright orange hair, but I love this softer colour on her. The peach hair, combined with the bodice and the pattern-matching, it’s nice. It’s not my favourite of the day, but it’s a nice look.

Tyla

Tyla has kept things simple, elegant and effective at the VMAs this year. I love her textured, teeny-tiny mini-dress and the way she’s accessorised with gold chains and jewellery draped across her body. Her hair is a simple fuck-ass-bob, and her makeup makes her features shine. She’s gorgeous. I love it.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton‘s VMA look can only be described by words from the billionaire beauty herself: “That’s hot”.

This year, the “Stars Are Blind” singer is giving a mix between Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender and a dominatrix and I, for one, am here for it.

Conan Gray

YES. The collar. The hat. The ruffles. The boots. The bodice. The singular curl on his forehead. The creativity. I gasped when I saw this look by Conan Gray, who has effectively said fuck you to every man wearing a boring ass suit on the red carpet.

Thank you, Conan, for your service. You get the keys to the city.

FKA Twigs

FKA Twig‘s industrial, cherry red look is a headturner. While I love the styling — the spikey hair, the headphones, beautifully lined lips and bleached brows — I can’t get over the texture of her outfit. It looks like a mix between snake skin and Papier-mâché. I can’t imagine how that would feel to wear, but it’s all I can think about.

Ariana Grande

By now, Ariana Grande knows her way around a red carpet. Well and truly in her Glinda era, Ariana looks gorgeously girly in this peplum poplkadot gown. And, of course, instead of it just being black and white, the peplum trim is a blush pink.

Sabrina Carpenter

Our pocket-sized princess has arrived! Sabrina Carpenter looks dazzling in a red long-sleeve, high-neck gown, dripping in jewels. She’s added to the glamorous, luxurious look with a lilac feather boa and her signature bouncy blonde curls.

The Man’s Best Friend singer won Song of the Year at the VMAs in 2024 for “Espresso”. Can she do it again? We’ll just have to wait and see.

GloRilla

I wanna be GloRilla in this absolute show-stopper of a look. From one quick look, it just looks like a mess of blue, green and pink plaid. However, as you look closer, you can see underneath the blazer is a super structured and layered shirt, tie, and bodice.

My only critique? Either her leg out pose needed to change, or the split in the skirt could have come down an inch to avoid the puckering. But hey, I’m splitting hairs. I love this.

Yungblud

Yungblud is giving old school rockstar in this leather-bound ensemble. Truth be told, this is kind of his normal look on stage, but thanks to the incredibly low-cut pants and his chiselled cum gutters, it’s a look worthy of the awards, the red carpet and our eyes. Everybody say thank you, Yungblud.

Brittany Snow & Malin Akerman

The Hunting Wives stars Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman both showed up to the VMAs in streamlined, metallic, strapless gowns. For normal people, it might just be a fun little coincidence.

However, for anyone who has seen The Hunting Wives, the fact that these two — who play lovers on the show — rocked up in complementary outfits, it’s enough to make fandom heads explode.

Zara Larsson

Do you guys remember the 90s? Swedish singer-songwriter Zara Larsson certainly does, and she’s giving the Gen Z angels amongst us a lesson in the frosty 90s fashion that lived in my head as a kid. From the shimmering pastels to the beaded hibiscus flowers, it’s a lesson in fashion history, and I am living for it.

Megan Stalter

Admittedly, I am an incredibly biased, long-term Megan Stalter fan, but I adore all the looks and hijinks she brings to events like the VMAs. This time around, she’s serving Dunkin’ Donuts realness with a side of “what can I get for you?” cinema stand employee.

It’s fun, it’s cheeky, and in my opinion, it’s the type of look that we should be seeing from the fresh, zeitgeist-inspired fashion at the VMAs.

Tate McRae

I’m torn by this one, my friends. On one hand, Tate McRae undoubtedly looks amazing. Objectively, she would look drop-dead gorgeous wearing literally anything. However, there’s a part of me that feels like this floaty, Grecian-inspired, drapey number is a little bit tired.

Tate is set to be performing later tonight, so hopefully she can hit her second outfit out of the park.

Sombr

In case you’re new here, I feel very strongly that, generally, celebrity men who wear generic suits on red carpets need to step it up. Sombr is a wonderful example of a famous fella in a suit making fun stylistic choices. The embroidery and the tie around the waist make this look impactful and fun, whilst being pretty standard.

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin puts the deep V in MTV with this ballroom-inspired moment. Truthfully, I love this simple yet tasteful look.

It’s making me want to see him salsa across the stage as he lives la vida loca. It’s all we can ask for.

Rebecca Black

Okay, hear me out. Is Rebecca Black‘s rich, textured look giving Björk‘s swan dress by Marjan Pejoski? Even if it wasn’t inspired, the soft, fluffy bodice and the exaggerated silhouette of the lace skirt are reminiscent of the infamous Academy Awards dress.

Anyway, I think all in all, I like this! Individually, all of the pieces don’t seem like they’d work, but combined with gorgeous hair, makeup and expert posing, I feel like the “Friday” singer is making this outfit work.

Katseye

I fear it’s lacking cohesion, but I love the looks individually.(Photo by Mike Coppola/Getty Images for MTV)

If there’s one thing a girlband can do, it’s serve looks. Today, each member of girl group Katseye — Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman, Sofia Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini and Yoonchae — are serving looks that on their own would be stunning. However, as a group, I think the impact of their outfits is lacking.

Katseye’s styling has always been incredible, but today I feel like they’ve struggled to find the line between individuality and cohesion.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat isn’t just bringing the 80s vibes into her new music — she’s living it. This outfit is dripping in 80s high-glam luxury. From the bright colours, the jewels, the bouncy wig, and red lip, she is making sure we know that she is that girl, no matter which decade she is in. My favourite bit, though? Her matching diamond lipstick purse.

This is only the first look for the Planet Her singer, who is set to perform her new single “Jealous Type”. I can’t wait to see the outfit change.

Gabby Windey

Never fear, ladies and gents, the people’s princess Gabby Windey is here! The former Bachelor star turned the internet’s darling looks stunning in this black lace gown ft. an expertly worn thong. She really is that girl — and she knows it.

Benee

I am obsessed with this look from New Zealand pop star Benee. I adore the different pieces and textures in this look. The 1920s-inspired hair adds a sophisticated edge to the bitsy, black ensemble that could’ve come across a little bit gothic. Instead, it’s been expertly styled to feel fresh, unique and insanely gorgeous.

Symone

RuPaul’s Drag Queen season 13 winner Symone is giving legs for days, weeks, months and years in this structured skirt situation. Yes, she looks beautiful, and her face is so symmetrical I want to scream, but I am not entirely sold on the look. It’s giving a corporate cheerleader who moonlights at an ice cream stand. Sorry.

Well, that’s it for this year’s 2025 VMAs red carpet. See you all next year!
