Colts work out RB Mike Gillislee

The Indianapolis Colts may have the day off from training camp practice on Friday, but that didn’t keep them from looking at the free agent market as running back Mike Gillislee worked out for the team.

Even with a backfield led by Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines, the Colts are doing their due diligence at the position by bringing in Gillislee for a workout. The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and confirmed by Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star.

A former fifth-round pick with the Miami Dolphins, Gillislee also had a workout recently with the Oakland Raiders. He spent two seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2015-16) while also spending time with the New England Patriots (2017) and the New Orleans Saints.

In 36 career games, Gillislee has recorded 274 carries for 1,291 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The Colts have a few banged-up running backs with Spencer Ware on the PUP list and Jordan Wilkins dealing with an injury.
