Colts’ snap counts from Week 5 loss to Browns

The Indianapolis Colts (3-2) couldn’t come away with a win on the road Sunday, enduring a 32-23 loss at the hands of the Cleveland Browns (4-1) at FirstEnergy Stadium.

After looking at the studs and duds along with the takeaways from the game, it’s time to look at the snap counts. Due to some injuries, these may look a little different than weeks past.

Here’s a look at the offensive snap counts from Week 5:

Analysis

  • WR T.Y. Hilton was back to his role as WR1. He led all wide receivers in snaps (95%) and targets (10). It is clear that Zach Pascal is the WR2 after playing 91% of snaps on Sunday.
  • WR Marcus Johnson has played the third-most snaps in the room over the last two weeks.
  • TE Mo Alie-Cox continues to take a backseat now that Trey Burton has returned from the injured reserve list. This is the second week in a row that Alie-Cox has been third on the tight end snaps list.
  • With more of a pass-heavy game script, Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines were the only players to work in the backfield.

Here’s a look at the defensive and special teams snap counts:

Analysis

  • With Darius Leonard out, Bobby Okereke and Anthony Walker Jr. played 100% of the snaps. Both players came away with an interception.
  • LB Zaire Franklin was the only other linebacker to see snaps behind Okereke and Walker Jr.
  • Surprisingly, CB Xavier Rhodes was the starter in base packages over Rock Ya-Sin, who played just 67% of snaps.
  • When S Julian Blackmon left the game for a bit with a groin injury, it was Tavon Wilson who replaced him.
