Colts Receiver Pittman Clears Concussion Protocol After Brutal Hit

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (11) catches a pass before being hit by Pittsburgh Steelers safety Damontae Kazee (23) during the first half of an NFL football game in Indianapoli

In a recent turn of events, Indianapolis Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr. found himself at the center of controversy after a violent hit from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Damontae Kazee. Pittman, the Colts' leading receiver, was understandably shaken by the incident, but it wasn't until he saw the video of the hit that he truly grasped its severity.

Describing the aftermath of the hit, Pittman shared that he didn't remember much about it but was deeply affected by the emotional reactions of his loved ones. 'I remember sitting in my locker and my wife came in crying, my daughter was crying, and that's like the first time I was like, 'Maybe this was bad,'' he confessed.

To the surprise of many, the NFL responded swiftly, suspending Kazee for the rest of the regular season due to the illegal hit and what they called 'repeated violations' of player safety rules. While Pittman recognizes the dangerous nature of the hit, he believes that the punishment might be too harsh. 'I do think that they were head-hunting, but I don't think he meant to try to impose a life-changing injury,' he explained. 'I don't think that any player has that in them, and you just never want to see guys lose games and lose that much money because I don't think he was trying to do that.'

Colts coach Shane Steichen praised Pittman's resilience, crediting his toughness for a quick exit from the concussion protocol. 'I've talked about how tough he is,' Steichen exclaimed. 'Obviously, he's OK from the hit, and I'm ready to have him back.'

Pittman, who has been a standout player for the Colts this season with 99 catches for 1,062 yards and four touchdowns, is determined to put the incident behind him. 'It's unfortunate how it happened, and I wish it never happened like this for me and for [Kazee],' he expressed.

As the Colts continue their playoff push, Pittman's return to the field is eagerly awaited. His presence and playmaking abilities have been instrumental to the team's success. Despite the controversy surrounding the hit, Pittman's focus remains on the game and helping his team secure a spot in the postseason.

While debates about player safety and appropriate punishments continue to surface in the world of football, it's crucial to remember the human aspect of these incidents. Both Pittman and Kazee are individuals with families and lives outside of the game, and their well-being should always be a priority.

As fans, let's support the players on the field while also advocating for a safer playing environment. The passion and excitement of the game should never overshadow the importance of preserving the health and well-being of those who entertain us every Sunday.

In the end, football is a game that brings us together, and it's up to all of us to ensure that it remains enjoyable, competitive, and most importantly, safe for everyone involved.
