Colts receive two compensatory picks in 2022 NFL draft

The Indianapolis Colts were awarded two compensatory selections in the 2022 NFL draft, the league announced Tuesday.

As was projected by Over The Cap earlier in the offseason, the Colts will now have an extra pair of selections on Day 3 of the draft. They received a fifth-round (No. 179 overall) and sixth-round (No. 216) pick in the draft.

The formula, which is based on last year’s free agency results, was essentially on par with the projections. The Colts were awarded two compensatory picks because they lost Denico Autry, Jacoby Brissett and Anthony Walker during the 2021 free agency period.

With the compensatory selections now in, the Colts have eight picks in the upcoming 2022 draft. They moved up in the second round and added a third-round pick thanks to the Carson Wentz trade with the Washington Commanders. That trade becomes official on Wednesday.

The Colts have a lot of positions to fill when the draft comes along at the end of April and now they’ll have two more selections to work with on Day 3.
