Colts predicted to land DT Ndamukong Suh by CBS Sports

The Indianapolis Colts are done with the major portion of free agency as well as the 2019 NFL Draft, but there are still those that feel a big splash signing is on the way.

With signings after Tuesday not being counted against the compensatory formula, it is likely that a number of free agents are set to find some new homes quickly. For Ndamukong Suh, his landing spot is predicted to be the Colts by Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports.

The Colts never really lived up to the hype as the big-money ballers of free agency, but with the draft in the rear view and their DT depth chart pretty forgettable outside of Margus Hunt, it’s fair to wonder if Chris Ballard might break out a Rams-esque one-year payday to bring some extra juice to the interior. Indianapolis already went to the veteran well to satisfy an edge need with Justin Houston, so this wouldn’t be out of character. Suh would also be joining a team that looks poised to seriously contend in 2019.

The Colts decided against addressing the interior defensive line during the draft. While that was a bit of a surprise, they shouldn’t be expected to add a major piece like Suh to the roster. It simply would go against what Ballard has been preaching.

The Colts do have talent on their interior defensive line. Hunt was a strong addition after moving inside from the edge while Denico Autry led the team with 9.0 sacks when healthy. That duo helped keep the Colts from allowing a 100-yard rusher throughout the entirety of the regular season.

Add in the potential the Colts see in Tyquan Lewis to go along with the promise shown by Jihad Ward before suffering an injury, and it’s easy to see why a singing like Suh isn’t going to be in the cards.

Some team will likely add Suh to their defensive line, and they will be getting solid production. But don’t expect that team to be the Colts.
