Colts’ Michael Pittman Jr. dealing with hip injury

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. was not on the field during OTAs for the media’s viewing Friday due to a hip injury.

The fourth-year wide receiver is entering a crucial season as its the final campaign of his rookie contract. He was absent for the media’s first OTA practice of the offseason last week due to the birth of his son.

“Yeah, he’s got a little bit of a hip (injury) – nothing crazy. I don’t have a timetable on his return, but we’re just being smart with him,” head coach Shane Steichen told the media Friday.

Injuries at this point of the offseason shouldn’t raise any major red flags, especially when it’s the first time we’re hearing about them. However, they should be monitored as the offseason progresses.

Pittman Jr. is expected to be the main target of the passing game following a career-high 99 receptions in 2022. Hopefully, the hip injury isn’t major so he can get into the playbook during the spring.

This, like all the injuries, will be something to monitor over the next two weeks as the Colts wrap up the offseason program on June 15.
