Colts defeat Titans, 19-17: The good, the bad and the ugly

The Indianapolis Colts (1-1) came away with a hard-fought win against the Tennessee Titans (1-1) on Sunday at Nissan Stadium, proving they won’t be anything near a pushover.

Let’s take a look at the good, the bad and the ugly that stemmed from the Week 2 matchup:

The Good

DT Denico Autry: The interior defensive linemen had himself a day on Sunday racking up 2.0 sacks and consistently working his way into the backfield.

RB Jordan Wilkins: He only played 11 snaps on the day but took five carries for 82 yards. His 55-yard run set up the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Third-down defense: The Colts were extremely stingy on third down, allowing the Titans to convert just 1-of-10 opportunities.

Jacoby Brissett in the red zone: It was an up-and-down day for Brissett, but he was sharp inside the 20-yard-line tossing three touchdowns in the win.

The Bad

Turnovers: This goes for both sides of the ball. The Colts lost the ball twice on offense and failed to record a single turnover on defense. That has to change moving forward.

WRs: T.Y. Hilton had a strong day catching four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown, but the rest of the group was quiet yet again.

Brissett’s timing: There were plenty of throws Brissett could have made had his timing been better. He was often late on some throws that could have been completed if he got the ball out sooner.

The Ugly

Run defense: The Colts still haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher, but there’s a chance it happens soon. They allowed 5.1 yards per carry to the Titans offense and have allowed 5.6 yards per carry in the first two games.
