Colts’ 2019 player review: WR Zach Pascal

The Indianapolis Colts had to dig deep in their wide receiver corps during the 2019 season due to several injuries, which allowed Zach Pascal to have a solid breakout campaign.

2019 Stats

Games Played: 16
Snaps: 799 (74%)
Receptions: 41
Receiving Yards: 607
Touchdowns: 5
Yards Per Reception: 14.8

Season Review

The Colts weren’t planning on Pascal holding a big role in the offense. However, the season obviously didn’t go according to that plan. And part of it depended on Pascal picking up the slack in the wide receiver room with T.Y. Hilton, Devin Funchess and Parris Campbell all missing time—sometimes at the same time.

Pascal led the team in receiving yards and was tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns. He was fourth on the team in receptions and second on the team in yards per reception.

There were times when Pascal would completely disappear, but he ultimately stepped up in a big way when the Colts needed it most. It earned him a one-year contract extension this offseason.

Offseason Outlook

The Colts wide receiver room is a group that could undergo some major additions. That said, Pascal should be in line for a complementary role in the offense regardless. He’s earned as much and even with some potential new faces in the room, Pascal will have a role in the offense.

Conclusion

Outside of the offensive line, there weren’t many bright spots for the Colts. Pascal was one of them, though, and he’s earned himself a role in the offense in 2020.
