Colorado Springs stabbing: 'Random' attack leaves eight injured across city

Condition of victims was not immediately made clear ( EPA )

Eight people have been stabbed in what has been described as a series of random attacks in a Colorado city that occurred overnight over a period of nearly an hour.

The attacks were first reported to police at around 1.30am in Colorado Springs, with officers responding to find two injured victims there.

Then, at around 2.10am, officers responded to another report of stabbings, where they found several more victims, some of whom were detaining the suspect.

According to local media, police said that the eight victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and that their condition was not immediately clear.

Police did, however, say that the attacks appeared to be random, and that there was no apparent relationship between the victims and the attacker.

The police have not released the suspect’s name as of yet, citing an ongoing investigation.

They have also refused to provide a public photo of the individual.

Colorado Springs sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, roughly 50 miles south of Denver.

The city has a population of nearly 465,000 people.
