College Football 26 Update Improves AI Running, QB Sack Avoidance, Late Game Management and More

EA Sports released a new College Football 26 update earlier today, introducing several tweaks to tighten up gameplay with many of the changes focused on improving AI behavior. Check out the patch notes below.

  • Smarter AI run playcalling & north–south ball carrier logic
  • Improved AI QB sack avoidance & late-game clock management
  • QB juke exploit fixes + stronger defender containment
  • Coach adjustment reset issue resolved
  • Modified AI run game playcalling logic to rely more heavily on their most effective run types
  • Reduced unnecessary skill moves by ball carriers, both inside the tackles and behind the line of scrimmage, to focus on decisive, north–south running
  • AI QB’s will now have better consideration of throwing the ball away when all receivers are covered to avoid taking unnecessary sacks
  • AI QB clock management improved by targeting the end zone or throwing the ball away near halftime and in late-game situations
  • Addressed the unrealistic QB speed boost when juking in the backfield while not holding Sprint
  • Improved defender pursuit so they maintain proper containment angles against QB jukes
  • With these fixes, both aspects of QB jukes behind the line have been rebalanced — no more unintended speed boosts, and defenders now keep stronger containment
  • Fixed an issue where changing Wear & Tear Subs at playcall would reset your coach adjustments

As noted yesterday, the update also includes the Army and Navy game day uniforms ahead of next Saturday’s matchup, along with Baylor’s chrome green helmets, Oregon’s marble helmets and Louisiana Tech’s all-black set.
