College basketball team forced to wear opponent’s jerseys after forgetting uniforms

The equipment staff for Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s basketball team really needs to start making to-do lists. You never know — it could save you the embarrassment of playing a game in the opponent’s uniforms.

IUP showed up for its game against Edinboro on Wednesday without uniforms. The Crimson Hawks entered the week as the No. 3 ranked team in Division II, so this wasn’t some scrub ballclub prone to mishaps. This was one of the top programs in Division II.

With Edinboro located some 131 miles away from IUP’s campus, the only solution was to wear Edinboro’s road uniforms. The photos were hilarious.

Team spokesperson Ryan Rebholz told USA TODAY Sports that the managers “simply forgot to pack” the uniforms. See — this is why lists are important! I tried to tell them.

Oddly enough, this wasn’t the first time a college team has been stuck wearing the opponent’s uniforms. In 2007, some Virginia Tech jerseys were stolen ahead of the Hokies’ road game against Georgia Tech. Quarterback Sean Glennon was forced to wear a Georgia Tech jersey and made some edits with a marker.

The uniform issues didn’t stop IUP from winning, 87-59.
