Cold wave revives; Sangaria records 4.6°C

JAIPUR: Cold wave conditions revived in the state after majority of the places witnessed a dip of almost 7°C. Most places logged minimum temperatures below 10°C. Sangaria (Hanumangarh) remained the coldest at 4.6°C.

Attributing the climatic change to the vanishing of upper air cyclonic circulation and western disturbances and revival of northerly winds, Jaipur Met office said similar conditions would prevail in the state for the next couple of days.

People in Jaipur woke up to a chilly morning as a minimum temperature of 9.5°C was recorded.

It was followed by a shivering afternoon despite a bright sunny day with a maximum temperature of 22.3°C, almost 3 degrees below normal.

In the coming days, there is a possibility of dip of almost 2°C in minimum temperatures in Jaipur. Jaipur Met office said in the next fortnight, mercury will go up and maximum temperatures will start rising.

While moderate showers were received at many places in Bikaner, Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions, fog and mist was recorded in Churu, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bharatpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur districts.

Sangaria (Hanumangarh) was followed by Bhilwara and Karauli where a minimum temperature of 5.1°C was recorded, Churu (5.3°C), Fatehpur, Chitorgarh and Udaipur recorded 5.8°C each, Nagaur (6.5°C), Pilani (7.1°C), Ajmer and Sawai Madhopur 7.8°C each, Ajmer (7.8°C), Jodhpur (8.9°C), Bikaner (9°C), Jaisalmer (10.8°C) and Barmer (11.2°C).

In its forecast, Jaipur Met office said mainly clear sky will be witnessed in almost every part of the state and mercury would take a dip.
