Coimbatore: Wall painter attempts to murder friend, held

COIMBATORE: A wall painter was arrested on Saturday night by the Ramanathapuram police in the city on charges of attempting to murder his friend.

The Ramanathapuram police arrested M Vinish, 30, of Puliyakulam, for attempting to murder C Raja, 30, of Petchiyannan Street at Puliyakulam, by smashing his head on the ground after a quarrel over money dispute.

Raja has been admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for treatment. Based on a complaint lodged by Raja’s aunt K Mariyayi, the Ramanathapuram police arrested Vinish under sections 294 (b), 307, 506 (i) of the IPC and 3 (1) (r),3 (2) (v) of the Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe Amendment (prevention of atrocities) Act. He was remanded in judicial custody on Sunday morning.

Raja is facing a case at RS Puram police station, sources said.
