Cody Gakpo hints at new Liverpool era as transfer debate shifts to six new players

Liverpool made an early play for the deal of the January transfer window before December was even over, with the arrival of Cody Gakpo offering real hope for the future.

While FSG are open to selling the club, they are still decisive in the market: the Reds stole a march on Manchester United to sign Netherlands forward Gakpo, who starred with three goals at the World Cup. At 23, Gakpo brings down the average age of the squad, and will hope to wreak havoc on Premier League rivals along with 25-year-old Luis Diaz for years to come.

Gakpo's arrival is the latest in a series of bold moves by sporting director Julian Ward, whose tireless work over the festive period got the deal over the line as a late Christmas present for Reds fans. But while there's obvious eagerness to see Gakpo in action and work out just how he'll fit into Jurgen Klopp's attack, question marks remain over a number of squad players this January.

Klopp has since addressed Roberto Firmino's future, insisting Gakpo's signing would have "no impact" on the Brazilian's Anfield future - but with the 31-year-old's contract up this summer, should the Reds be open to saying goodbye given their embarrassment of riches in attack?

Keep or Sell

Along with Firmino, we want you, the fans, to tell us who should stay and who should go in January. Is time up for Bobby? What about Nat Phillips and Adrian? And with Jude Bellingham a key summer midfield target, is it time for the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita or James Milner to be moved on? Tell us in our Keep or Sell poll below...

Once you have told us what you think with the Keep or Sell poll, join the debate in the comments section below.
