Coatbridge choir perform for president in Portugal during annual Algarve trip

Performers from Soundsational community choir hit the high notes as they performed in the Algarve – including a show for regional president Ivo Carvalho.

The singers travelled to Portugal for a fourth time, serenading residents and visitors at Alvor’s castle and harbour – and joined forces with Irish singer-songwriter Keith Wilson at his bar, The Parlour.

Now the group, which was founded in Coatbridge, is planning to return to teach music programmes with local schools.

Alvor regional president Mr Carvalho said: “It was a pleasure to receive the Soundsational choir, who captured us with two fantastic performances in symbolic places of our village.

“We all love their performances and the atmosphere in the group; their presence is a constant joy and cheer.”

Keith added: “Soundsational have lit up Alvor – people are traveling from as far away as Canada for this event, which is growing and reaching out to so many.”
