Coast Guard search for man overboard from Carnival’s Mardi Gras cruise ship

ORLANDO, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a passenger Saturday who Carnival Cruise Line said jumped off its Mardi Gras cruise ship on the way back to Port Canaveral.

The cruise line said it searched for the adult male until the Coast Guard arrived on scene and released the ship to return to port.

“The Carnival Care Team is supporting the guest’s family,” the cruise line said in a statement. “Mardi Gras has arrived to Port Canaveral and will be sailing its next itinerary.”

Mardi Gras is the line’s newest ship that debuted out of the Orlando-area port last summer.

The passenger was an adult male sailing with his family, the line said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the guest and his family,” the statement read.
