Co Down couple's home ransacked in 'traumatic' burglary

Intruders "ransacked" a Co Down couple's house in a daylight burglary, but it is unclear if anything was actually taken.

It was around 12.30pm on Monday, June 21 when the couple left their house in the Hillsborough Road area of Dromara.

They returned at 2.45pm to find an intrusion had taken place, in what has been a "traumatic ordeal" for the couple since.

A statement from PSNI said: "While at this stage it is unclear what, if anything, has been taken, this has obviously been a traumatic ordeal for the couple.

"This intrusion took place in the afternoon – in broad daylight – and I am appealing to anyone with information, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to get in touch."

Police are asking any members of the public who noticed anyone acting suspiciously around that time, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1383 of 21/06/21.

A report can also be made using the online reporting form via the PSNI website.

Information can alternatively be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online.
