An interview on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time turned personal Wednesday night, with a guest and anchor Chris Cuomo taking shots at each other on live television.
The guest, California restaurant owner Tony Roman, made news by posting a sign warning diners that “proof of being unvaccinated” was required if anyone wanted to eat at Huntington Beach’s Pasta e Vino. Roman said he hadn’t gotten the vaccine, and neither had his family, saying that anyone who was vaccinated against Covid-19 might be “too stupid to come into the restaurant.”
Cuomo, who tried and failed to convince Roman that the vaccine would protect his family from serious illness, concluded “you’re pro-freedom but people can’t wear masks. Tony, it doesn’t make sense...honestly, you sound like an idiot.”
Earlier in the interview, Roman seemed to hint that the sign posted at his restaurant was a joke to make a political point, asking Cuomo “I think you figured it out, am I right?” Cuomo responded “I don’t even know what you’re saying right now.”
Roman said he wasn’t making a political point, and was not making a judgment on vaccines—but was taking a “pro freedom and anti tyranny” stand.
“The science is clear, Tony. I don’t want you to get sick,” Cuomo said, before ending the interview.
