JAIPUR: With the inaugural edition of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games scheduled to begin from August 25, chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday launched the logo and the official jersey of the Games at the Maharaja Ganga Singh University in Bikaner.
"The state government is committed to the growth of various sports in the state and plans are being executed to facilitate the same. The facilities are being developed based on the suggestions taken from the athletes, experts and sports council," said the chief minister.
The Gramin Olympics is expected to see more than 30 lakh participants across the age groups. The winners will be given preference in contractual cadre on vacant posts, informed the CM.
CM Gehlot also felicitated players from Bikaner and inaugurated the auditorium and indoor sports complex of the university. Apart from this, he also laid the foundation stone of the multipurpose indoor hall of the Karni Singh Stadium.
Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) chairperson Krishna Poonia acknowledged the role of the state government's policies in 'changing the sports culture in Rajasthan'. "Future of the sportspersons is secured now and Rajasthan is emerging as the foremost state in the country's sporting landscape," she added.
