Clyde boost League One survival hopes with key win over Falkirk - here is what we learned

Clyde earned a deserved 3-2 win against Falkirk to derail the Bairns title hopes and revitalise Danny Lennon's team in the relegation dogfight.

Here is a look at the talking points from a key result at both ends of the League One table...

High press high reward

Falkirk were caused serious problems all afternoon as Chris McStay and Mark Lamont harried the visitors centre-backs - resulting in the opening goal.

The Bairns were caught dawdling as Lamont robbed Paul Dixon early in the clash and slipped the ball beyond Robbie Mutch.

Giving the promotion-chasing side as little time on the ball as possible resulted in countless misplaced passes, which was even more noticeable once Margaro Gomis was taken off for Rafa Da Vita.

The lack of holding midfielder allowed Raymond Grant to dominate the centre of the park and constant pressure from the Clyde front line meant the title hopefuls best chances were limited to long balls and set-pieces.

The best goalkeeper in League One?

David Mitchell put his case forward as the best goalkeeper in third tier with another striker of unbelievable saves for the Bully Wee.

After half time a brilliant save to tip Ben Hall's header on to the bar proved to be the inspiration for the side as they went on to score a third moments later.

He was again the hero late in the game as he kept our Bairns hero and co-boss Lee Miller from point blank range as the clock ticked down to the 90 minute mark.

If Clyde can keep their League One spot for next season Mitchell will have earned more than his fair share of plaudits - and points.

Not going down without a fight

Clyde had been on a horror run ahead of the Broadwood win.

With only a single League One win since the turn of the year while dropping points to Peterhead, Stranraer and Forfar in their last meetings with their relegation rivals things fans were beginning to look over their shoulder.

However, Forfar's loss and Peterhead's trip to Stranraer being postponed means the Cumbernauld men sit four points clear of the bottom two.

A battling defensive display, David Goodwillie's return to scoring form, and a win over a promotion contender show it won't be easy to send the Lanarkshire outfit back to League Two.
