Clubber left with fractured eye socket after he was 'attacked by seven men' on night out

A man was left with memory loss and a fractured eye socket after allegedly being attacked by a gang of seven on his way to a chip shop following a night out.

In shocking footage posted to Instagram, Scott Johnson, 26, could be seen trying to shield his face as he is pushed and punched by a group outside a Subway in Solihull.

He had just left Popworld nightclub and was walking to a chip shop in the early hours of Sunday morning when he was assaulted.

Nothing was stolen in the brawl.

His younger brother Ashley, 24, told Birmingham Live Scott has been suffering from memory loss as a result of he attack.

"Seven lads against one is just disgusting," he said.

"We don't know if there were words exchanged beforehand but Scott is not the type of person to get into fights.

"I've spoken with a couple of his mates who were with him that night and they said he was walking away towards Kings to get something to eat when the group of lads jumped him.

"When I saw the video of him with his arms up covering his face and every single one of them throwing punches, I thought it was disgusting.

"There were two girls there screaming, trying to break it up. Scott had a massive gash to his elbow, his whole arm was red with blood. He had to have stitches.

"His face is now covered in bruises, one eye is completely closed now. They fractured his eye socket."

Ashley said he received a message from Scott around 5am as he stood, bleeding from his arm and face, outside Solihull Hospital.

"I went into full panic mode," said Ashley.

"We'd been together earlier that night with some of his friends but we parted ways around 10.30pm.

"It was around 5am in the morning - I had a message saying Scott was at the hospital and that he'd been beaten up, but they told him he needed to go to Heartlands.

"He had tried calling a taxi two or three times but no one would let him in because he was bleeding so much, which is terrible."

Scott was checked over at Heartlands and was then sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment. He has since been discharged.

The incident has been reported to police and Scott's family are urging anyone who saw what happened to call 101.

"I just want to know who did it and why," said Ashley.

West Midlands Police said in a statement to the Mirror: "We were called to a report of a man being injured in an attack outside a club in Solihull in the early hours of Sunday morning (10 October).

"The man in his 20s was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his face and arm and was later discharged to continue his recovery at home.

"We’ve arranged for officers to visit to take a full statement from the victim.
