Club confirm Nottingham Forest medical ahead of imminent transfer

Costa Rican giants Alajuelense have confirmed that midfielder Brandon Aguilera travelled to England this week to have a Nottingham Forest medical ahead of a potential transfer.

The teenager has already made more than 60 senior appearances despite only turning 19 years old last month. Aguilera has also enjoyed significant success in his first two seasons as a professional, lifting the CONCACAF League, a North American equivalent of the Europa League, as well as the national Apertura title with Alajuelense.

Sucess on the senior international stage has also followed, with the attacking midfielder already being capped three times by the national team, marking his debut by assisting the opener after delivering a corner in a 2-0 win over the United States of America. That World Cup qualifying win was watched by Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, who was an unused substitute in the capital, San Jose.

Alajuelense announced the news on their verified official Twitter account. Translated from Spanish, the tweet reads: "On Thursday, the red-and-black midfielder, Brandon Aguilera, travelled to England for medical tests and to determine the possibility of joining the English Premier League 's Nottingham Forest."

Aguilera would not be the first youngster to arrive straight from the Americas since Dane Murphy became chief executive, either. Braian Ojeda arrived from Paraguayan giants Olimpia Asuncion late on during last summer's transfer window and signed a four-year contract at the City Ground.

Ojeda, also a senior international with Paraguay, featured just four times for Forest last season and was most recently named as a substitute on the final day of the Championship season against Hull City but remained unused. A question mark remains over where the 21-year-old will feature in head coach Steve Cooper's plans.
