Clive Tyldesley in Rangers 'brown brogues' quip to Walter Smith as commentator brushes up on Ibrox traditions

It's clear Clive Tyldesley is already enjoying himself at Rangers.

The legendary ITV Sport commentator was a marquee addition to the club's match day coverage and his instantly recognisable tones have been layered over home matches in the early stages of the season.

Scottish football is relatively new territory Tyldesley, who has spent much of his career calling English Premier League, Champions League and international matches.

A stint with Rangers ' in-house broadcast is certainly a first and the 66-year-old is making sure he is up to speed on all-things Ibrox as he covers Steven Gerrard 's side.

Before guiding viewers through Saturday's 2-0 win over Kilmarnock, he took time to acquaint himself with one of the club's long-running traditions.

Walter Smith no longer stalks the touchline in Govan but he hasn't given up wearing the brown brogues.

The legendary boss is also on Rangers' match day team as a pundit and was suitably dressed for the occasion.

It offered Tyldesley the opportunity to establish what makes - in his own words - "a Rangers man".

In a video that later appeared on his Instagram account, the commentator points the camera at Smith, before asking: "So, it's got to be brown brogues and navy trousers to be a Rangers man?"

Upon receiving confirmation, Tyldesley jokingly asked of Smith: "Is he a Rangers man? I don't know I don't recognise him!"
