Click and collect Covid tests are set to become available for fully-jabbed travellers from overseas arriving in the UK.
The lateral flow kits, sold by Cignpost ExpressTest, will cost £19.99, and can be pre-ordered in advance and collected on arrival at Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Edinburgh airports.
Anyone ordering one of the tests will not be forced to rely on an arrivals test being delivered to a hotel or temporary address in the UK.
Results should be made available within 25 minutes and authenticated when the customer uploads a photograph of the test and passport number to the ExpressTest app, the company claims.
The image is then checked and official proof of status sent within 60 minutes between 8am to midnight each day.
Christian Corney, Cignpost ExpressTest chief executive, said: “Since the government has made lateral flow tests mandatory for everyone arriving into the UK, we have looked at how we can make the testing process easy at every level.
“There’s a £1,000 fine for anyone who misses the two-day deadline to complete their test, so launching a click and collect option gives international travellers the reassurance that they’ve met their Covid testing requirement, rather than worrying about whether their tests have arrived at the hotel or guesthouse they are staying in.”
Since October 24, double-vaccinated passengers can take a lateral test on or before day two after arrival in the UK. The tests must be booked on the Government website with an approved provider.
