Clever mums share ways to buy children's Christmas jumpers for £1

Mums have been revealing the cheapest ways to buy Christmas jumpers for their kids as the current cost of living crisis continues to put pressure on families.

The festive season is always an expensive time, but even more so this year with soaring bills and inflation. Many families are worried about covering the cost of the bare essentials, with any extras simply not being feasible.

But Christmas Jumper Day is coming up next week on Thursday, December 8, and parents have been sharing ideas on how to pick up the festive garments for less.

Manchester Evening News reports that one mum shared in a bargain Facebook group how she's managed to get both her children's jumpers from the Vinted website for £6.50 plus postage.

"They are in immaculate condition because kids outgrow them so fast and usually just wear them once," she said. "Also a great way to recycle."

One mum shared her bargain finds on a Facebook group (Manchester Family/MEN)

This caused a huge response from over 150 parents, with many saying they also choose to buy their children's Christmas jumpers from the likes of eBay, Vinted or a charity shop.

"I always grab them from the charity shop for a pound or two," said one. "Mine only wear them on Christmas Jumper Day."

"I got my son's jumper from Vinted for £2," said another. "Never been worn before either, absolute bargain."

One mum said she'd also sold a couple of her Christmas jumpers on Vinted, which is described as an 'online marketplace for buying, selling and exchanging new or secondhand items, mainly clothing and accessories'.

Speaking recently to Manchester Evening News, a mum-of-three hailed Vinted as a "godsend" as she often uses it to buy essentials like pyjamas for her children.

She was full of praise for the site, saying it had helped her save money and other families should do the same.
