Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney disrespected Ohio State with his Amway Coaches Poll vote

The Ohio State football team just got some more bulletin board material in its preparation to play Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, one of the semifinals for the College Football Playoff. That’s because head coach Dabo Swinney’s final Amway Coaches Poll votes were released (along with all others) by USA TODAY, and the Clemson head man voted Ohio State No. 11.

What?

Yes, you read that correctly. Despite almost every other coach voting OSU at No. 6 or better, Swinney went all holier than thou again and decided to put the Buckeyes well outside of the top four, and even outside of the top ten, all the way down to No. 11.

This falls in line with some sharp criticism Swinney had when asked whether Ohio State should be considered for the College Football Playoff on radio last week. He hemmed and hawed and eventually said he would have a problem with it because the Buckeyes only played six games.

Someone should tell Dabo that the world is in the midst of a global pandemic and the number of games Ohio State played were a direct result of that. Three were canceled, two of which because the other school didn’t meet protocols to be able to field a team.

Any way you slice it, the Buckeyes should have no excuse to not be dialed in, hungry, and prepared for the game in New Orleans on the night of January 1. There are the revenge and redemption factors, and now you can add the disrespect Swinney has shown toward the Buckeyes this year.

Yeah, January 1 can’t get here soon enough.
